Life-Cycle-Analysis of Virtu completed

In early 2022 we started a life cycle analysis on our hardware products - VirtuPVT and VirtuHOT. Our goal was to understand how our key decisions regarding raw materials, supply chain, and distribution impact the environment.

We believe in transparency in our business operations, and conducting a full life cycle analysis was necessary to live this believe.

This means we’ve undertaken a complete calculation of global warming potential, resource use as well as waste resulting from raw materials, manufacturing, installation, transportation, and end-of-life practices.

Being a growing scale-up and having carried out the analysis for the very first time, we encountered initial obstacles in obtaining our suppliers' environmental data, quantifying manufacturing waste, and selecting appropriate disposal procedures.

However, in the end we received all the data and information required to complete the analysis and our findings were successfully verified under EN 15804+A2 standards and are now represented by EPDHub in the form of concise Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) reports

In addition to key GHG emissions, we quantified the payback* on embodied carbon, which you can find on the additional technical information page in the EPDs:

·       For VirtuHOT (https://manage.epdhub.com/?epd=HUB-0433)

·       For VirtuPVT (https://manage.epdhub.com/?epd=HUB-0434)

We are proud to say that the average carbon payback for VirtuHOT was verified to be approximately 1.35 years, and 3.25 years for VirtuPVT.

The LCA process has helped us advance further on our journey towards traceability, but we recognise that it's not the final step.

Alongside a growing number of RES manufacturers who share their product information with the market, we strive to provide hardware products and software solutions meeting our customers financial requirements and their appetite for unique solutions to their decarbonisation challenges.

*Carbon payback is a ratio of embodied carbon to the total carbon abatement by a Virtu system.
