Jonny Williams and Finbarr McCarthy join Naked Energy
Introducing two fresh minds to our mission to create a new reality in clean energy. A warm welcome to Jonny and Finbarr.
We are excited to welcome two new recruits to our effort to tackle the decarbonisation of heat. Aligned with the rest of our team, Jonny and Finbarr are driven by a sense of responsibility to solve the world’s toughest challenges around climate change, starting by changing energy for good.
Both Jonny and Finbarr are well equipped with years of technical and commercial experience to support the expansion of Naked Energy’s commercial team, propelling our market entry strategy.
Jonny Williams
Jonny Williams joins us as Strategy and Partnerships Lead, heading up the strategy for entering new markets and growing our partnership base through distributors and agents. Jonny is fascinated by the application of solar technologies and how they are leading to decarbonisation on a global scale. His professional background spans 20 years in construction and renewable energy. He considers himself a generalist working across technical and commercial areas – he is a Chartered Engineer with a PhD in Environmental Law. Previously he has worked with Laing O’Rourke, BRE and SPECIFIC at Swansea University. Jonny is looking forward to applying his experience and knowledge to supporting the continued growth of Naked Energy.
In his spare time, Jonny is an active participant in a community cow cooperative on the Gower Peninsular in south Wales. This “grass roots” initiative involves supporting a small herd of cows, reared in such a way that encourages local food production, reduced food miles, high levels of animal welfare and sustainable land management. He is also a keen cyclist and competes in cyclocross, mountain bike and gravel disciplines. He dabbles in sea kayaking and loves taking trips to his native Scotland to visit family and friends.
Finbarr McCarthy
We also welcome Finbarr McCarthy as Senior Commercial Manager. When he’s not pondering the potential of solar thermal as a gateway to low-carbon heat, Finbarr enjoys running (including the occasional half marathon) and avidly supporting his favourite rugby team, Leinster.
As an experienced engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the construction sector, Finbarr is well prepared to ensure the smooth running of large-scale commercial and industrial installations. In 2014, he transitioned to the renewables sector, in a role at Kingspan Environmental, where his team designed and delivered significant solar thermal projects around the globe. He gained a grounding in solar thermal, solar PV, wind and rainwater harvesting, consolidating his belief that there is no silver-bullet solution to decarbonising our energy system. Finbarr is a fountain of knowledge on clean technology. Ask him about the future of renewable heat and he’ll provide a balanced and compelling argument, with realistic solutions.
In 2019, he started 4 Energy Solutions, to assist private companies and the public service with the energy transition. The goal of the business is to provide unbiased technical and financial consultancy, to allow organisations to successfully navigate their transition away from fossil fuels. We are excited by Finbarr’s fascinating experience and hope that he can help to educate us all on solar heat.
