And the winner is... VirtuPVT!
Naked Energy has been honoured with an Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) award.
CIBSE Building Performance Awards, now in their 14th year, recognise the teams, products, innovations, initiatives and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the build environment. They are the only industry Awards that focus on actual, measured performance outcomes, and not just design intent or performance specifications.
Trying to continue in the good spirits of previous award dinner events, this year hundreds of industry professionals logged in at home to watch the live presentation, celebrating the combined achievements across the contested categories.
We were thrilled to see VirtuPVT awarded the Product or Innovation Award in Thermal Comfort.
The judges said VirtuPVT stood ‘’head and shoulders above the rest’’, in a category that attracted a wide range of solutions, covering both products and services. They added, "The winning product is well thought through and achieves cleaner integration of renewable technologies in buildings to meet the 21st-century energy needs.”
The judges were impressed with the strength of our submission, which they said, “was supported by very detailed research and development information, plus well-considered methods of installation and optimisation.”
“It’s a wonderful feeling. Our product is out there on rooftops, generating real solar heat and power for real people! To have the CIBSE approval now is just wonderful for our business. Here we go net zero!"
Alex Mellor, Naked Energy Senior Technologist
After more than 10 years developing and refining our product, this is welcomed recognition. Awards don't normally motivate us as much as the reduction in emissions Virtu achieves, the satisfied customers, building managers and building users - but this CEIBSE Award is a huge honour to win.
With nearly half of global carbon emissions attributed to heat and power generation, a key challenge for the built environment transition to net zero carbon is to reduce these emissions cost effectively, without losses in comfort for the end user.
VirtuPVT provides both heat and power, allowing buildings to offset their gas and electricity consumption. The unique 2-in-1 technology allows for more on-site clean energy generation over less space, compared to standard flat panel PV or Solar Thermal alone.
We are hoping this year will be one of our best. We have great opportunities coming our way, influencing projects globally towards sustainable energy and supporting the shift in our industry towards renewables for a net zero carbon future. We have been hearing great news back from Salix, where some of our UK clients PSDS finance applications have been approved. We are growing our team and expanding our reach internationally, focusing on building partnerships with installers and distributors worldwide.
Lots to look forward to and lots to keep us busy!
After all, the greater our success, the greater the reduction in global carbon emissions, supporting sustainable lasting effects.
Changing Energy for good.
We would like to take the opportunity to recognise and congratulate the other exceptional innovations in the Thermal Comfort Award 2021 shortlist:
